This past weekend, I had the honor of photographing one of the most heartfelt celebrations at Serendipity Garden Weddings. Nestled deep in the California hills, this venue offered some of the most breathtaking views I’ve seen, along with a super romantic, garden setting that perfectly aligned with the artistic vision of Summer + Otis’s day!

These two have been together for around 11 years, from the time they were teenagers. They moved to California just last month in August, and one month later, they gathered their family and friends to celebrate their love in one of the most beautiful ways you can.

Both Summer and Otis are artists with a background in dance, and it showed in the way they carried themselves throughout the day — graceful, expressive, and fully present in each moment.

Their wedding was a beautiful balance of intentional choices, emotion, and joy that managed to feel both timeless and deeply personal.

The details were so elevated and refined. A rich palette of burgundy and emerald, accented with touches of gold, set the tone for the evening. Guests were welcomed with parosoles and fans made of weaved rattan, a hand-painted seating chart and invited to select from a wall of ornate, thrifted glasses — as a thoughtful keepsake.

Their ceremony was BREATHTAKING. Held just before sunset, the space was backlit by a golden haze over the mountains. Otis’s father officiated, weaving love and personal stories into the ceremony as he reflected on watching the two grow up and grow together in their relationship.

Choosing to skip a “first look”, the emotional reaction during their vows felt like a culmination of moments leading up to this day.

After the ceremony we quickly dove straight into family photos and wedding party capturing the last bit of light before blue hour drenched the scene.

During the second half of the day, what struck me most was not only how deeply they love one another, but how profoundly they are loved by everyone around them. Each toast felt like a love letter — moving, personal, and powerful enough to bring the entire room (myself included) to the verge of tears.

Their first dance was a breathtaking reflection of their shared background in dance, weaving artistry and intimacy into a moment that felt like the heart of their story.

They ended the night with one of the most beautiful cakes I’ve ever seen, followed by hours of dancing, singing, and pure joy. As the celebration came to a close, they shared a private dance—a quiet, intimate moment to end an unforgettable day.

I can’t wait to share more from their wedding soon, but for now, here’s a small preview of their gallery!
